30 Day Poetry Challenge: 2

Day 2: Who was the last person you texted? Write a five-line poem to that person.

Lol

To eating junk we are prone
Who's fault is this? Unknown
You look like a llama
You love your mama
And together we watch Game Of Thrones

Hehe, fun little one :) :)

30 Day Poetry Challenge: 1

Day 1: Write a poem where each line starts with a letter from your first name (an Acrostic). It can be about anything, but it should not be about you or your name.

King of land and sky he sails with ever stronger wings
Against all odds and stronger men he conquers all and wins
Taking what is always owed, my heart bleeds for him
In the darkness he arrives and urges me to sin
Everlasting in his plight to never sink, but swim

Roast Vegetables!!

How did I not know about the amazing-ness of roast vegetable before now? For years I have been boiling and stir-frying. But not any more! Hell no!

Today I used carrots, peppers, onion and baby potatoes. All I did was chop them and put them on a baking tray with sunflower oil and popped them in the oven for a bit! Magnificent!

Needless to say there were no leftovers, they all went into my belly, yum! Looks like I'll be eating my five a day from now on!

Fun Things To Do During The Summer

I finally finished my exams! Phew, I had 7 exams in 9 days- It felt like it lasted forever! Now that they are finished I have three and a half long empty months to go until I start my Msc in DIT in September.

Here's a list (Which may get updated) of what I plan to do this Summer 2012:

1) Get Ripped

I love girl abs. This summer I plan on achieving girl abs. I shall be doing this through a combination of healthy eating and constant exercise. My diet shall be high protein (not too low-carb). I shall be swimming an playing water polo twice a week. On top of this I shall aim to go to the gym at least twice a week to lift weights. I will also be doing planks every night to work up my abductor muscles (although the main thing I need to do is lower my body fat)

2) Compete in a Triathlon

I'm not too sure about this one! I can obviously do the swim part and I can do the cycle- Although not that fast. The problem is I struggle to run more than 2km. I run like a girl. This one  is a 'maybe'!

3) Go Abroad

I really need to get out of Ireland. I love travelling. I will go ANYWHERE! At the moment I'm looking at inter-railing or some sort of volunteering in Africa or South America with my sister. Unfortunately she isn't as enthusiastic about our impending voyage so I'm not really sure how it will pan out. Watch this space!

4) Write A Song

This one is the hardest of my plans. I find it really hard to write songs. I can sit at the piano and improvise for hours on end but I really want to write a pop song, with cool lyrics. That's my downfall: lyrics. Plus I've nothing to write about! Maybe I need to get my heart broken so I can be inspired!

5) Read (At least) Five Books

And proper books too! No trash! (Although I am tempted to read 50 Shades of Grey, ha. ever since Ellen Degeneres did her skit about it!)

I'm almost finished The Reluctant Fundamentalist so but I'm not counting that as one of my 5. I must put together a reading list asap and start ticking them off!

So those are my Summer plans. Wish me luck!

Phillip Phillips sings Damien Rice

So apparently this is the talent that's on American Idol at the moment... Phillip Phillips covered Damien Rice's brilliant song 'Volcano'. It's pretty brilliant...

But I'm just not a fan! Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great song and he sings it great. But what happened to American Idol being about pure, unadulterated pop music?! It seems like everyone is now willing to try their hand at  American Idol or X Factor just to get famous. I don't want any of this sad, slow, rock, depressing, indie stuff on the television. They should go back underground where they belong and leave the mainstream stuff to people like Britney and Shakira who people actually want to listen to.

Cosmopolitan Curl Crazy Styling Wand

I treated myself yesterday to a new toy! It's the Cosmopolitan Curl Crazy Styling Wand. I've been meaning to buy myself a curling wand ever since my sister (I used to just use hers) moved out over a year ago... Oops!

Let me give you a bit of background regarding my hair and curlers. To cut a long story short: It doesn't curl. Or if it does curl it last for five minutes. Last time I was at the hairdressers (November!), after my hair was cut, she asked me how I wanted it styled, straight or curly. I replied that my hair doesn't curl! She laughed and said "I know that feeling! I'll curl it with the GHD, don't worry, it will be really curly and the curls will last for a long time!". Needless to say, by the time I met my sister around the corner my hair was already looking drab and stringy and most importantly NOT CURLY! This all changed when I tried the wand though :) I'm not sure why but it WORKS! It curls my hair and the curls stay in for ages too!

So, I finally had a bit of spare cash this week so I splurged and bought my own one from Argos. It was on sale from around 32euro down to 22euro (I was going to get the one reduced from 80euro to 44euro but I really didn't want to spend an extra 20- I'm a scabby student after all!) so I felt like I was getting a bit of a bargain. I had to try it out straight away!

Here's what my hair looked like before, wow, look at my crazy eyes!! I hadn't brushed it in about a week- That's why it's so frizzy and poofy. It's normally much more flat:

And this is how curly my hair was less than 20 minutes later!
My mom couldn't believe it, she asked 'Is that your real hair?!' I said yes, she said 'Is ALL of that your real hair?!' Lol!

This is the next morning after sleeping on the curls! See how long they last!

Needless to say I am highly satisfied with my purchase! I would rate this product 5 out of 5 stars to be honest. The only downside is that it doesn't come with a heat resistant glove (I did burn myself already), however, there is a cold tip where you can hold the curl in place (Only needs 10 seconds!) without burning yourself. I would definitely recommend to a friend!

♡ Electra Heart ♡

I absolutely LOVE Marina and the Diamonds new album! It's called Electra Heart and it's so camp and pop, it's brilliant! My favorite tracks from it at the moment are Starring Role and HomeWrecker. I love her voice, it's opratic.

Here's an acoustic version of Homewrecker:

I also watched a few videos on youtube of her commenting on the album. She explains how the main reason she started writing songs is for the lyrics. On this alum she collaborated with some well know producers and music writers which allowed her to concentrate on her skills as a lyricist (Which are exquisite by the way!). I really think this paid off :)

Here's my cover of the first single off the album 'Primadonna Girl'. Enjoy!
